BRMS STEAM Tech Path

Students choose a path that aligns with their interest. Choosing a path does not exclude students from participating in opportunities provided in the other path. Students will have an opportunity to apply skills learned in their technology class within their core STEAM classes.

6th Grade

Coding and Business Applications 

All STEAM students will take Coding Fundamentals. This class will explore foundational computer science and robotics concepts ranging from binary code to artificial intelligence. Students will also learn to complete tasks using word processors, spreadsheets, presentation software, block programming, and web development tools.
Interested students will also have the opportunity to begin learning languages such as JavaScript, Python, and C#.

7th Grade

7th grade students will chose one or the other or both.

​7th graders may also take a TSA class.

Computer Applications

The purpose of this course is to assist students in making informed decisions regarding their future academic and occupational goals and to provide information regarding careers in the Business Management and Administration career cluster.  The content includes but is not limited to instruction in intermediate keyboarding, intermediate word processing, intermediate electronic presentation, intermediate computer hardware, intermediate Internet, introductory spreadsheet, and skills for business applications.  

Fundamentals of
​Web Software Design

Students will take Fundamentals of Web Software Design. Students in this course will learn how to use Photoshop to be more productive and to create higher quality images more efficiently. Student will learn editing, retouching, enhancing of images, and much more.  Students who are successful in this class will be offered the opportunity to take the Adobe Photoshop Industry Certification Exam. Students will also explore all of the products in the Adobe Creative Suite and learn the basics of Web Design.  

8th Grade

8th graders may also take a TSA class.

Digital Information Technology High School Credit Course

This is a high school credit course that provides a basic overview of current business and information systems. The emphasis is on becoming proficient with fundamental software applications and business practices necessary for college or work bound students.  Students will also learn the fundamental concepts of acceptable behavior in the business world.  Students will have the opportunity to take three Industry Certification Exams to become a Microsoft Office Specialist--these exams are Word 2016, PowerPoint 2016, and Excel 2016.

Industry Certifications

Students may earn the following Industry Certifications at Braden River Middle School:

Microsoft Office Specialist Certification (must pass Word 2016, PowerPoint 2016, and Excel 2016)
Adobe Photoshop Industry Certification
